Have you tried to copy the Windows fonts from another PC, that does not have the Adobe product, to the PC displaying the issue?
Adobe designer may have overwritten some of the Windows fonts.
Reinstalling Microsoft Office may fix the font issues as well.
As Lotus Notes uses Windows fonts, I wonder if it can only read a certain number of fonts in the C:\windows\fonts folder? Arial can be set as the default font, but Verdana cannot.
